According to CNN’s Tasha Diakides Friday McCain said “Despite his complicated history with the party’s base, he said, pragmatic Republicans will back him when faced with the Democratic alternative.”

In other words he will follow Bush’s well worn path of pointing to the opposition and stating what are you going to do vote for them schlubs.
