Pressure’s building

From the BBC:

Japan's opposition party says it would refuse to buy American government bonds denominated in US dollars, if elected…

… But, he added, it would continue to buy bonds only if they were denominated in yen - the so-called samurai bonds.

This would be an unmitigated disaster.

21.8 Trillion?

So far the government has given or backstopped 12.8 trillion to buy time.

Is this 9 trillion in off balance sheet lending in addition to the 12.8 trillion in loans and backstops we already know about or is there some overlap? Just how soon does this blow up?
